Card files from Berlin prisons from the Nazi era

The Archives of the federal province Berlin keep files of detainees of the Berlin prisons Plötzensee, Tegel, Charlottenburg, Barnimstraße and Moabit from the years 1934/35 to 1945.

The index cards contain biographical information, indications of the offense, terms of imprisonment and transfers as well as file numbers of the competent execution authorities. They are thus an important source for investigating the destiny of prisoners within the detention system of the Nazi state.

In accordance with § 9, para. 3 ArchGB (protection periods of personal data), these files can now be used in digitized form in the reading room of the Landesarchiv.
